The Institute for Leadership Excellence and Development (i-lead) has targeted some 100,000 participants to join its Undi18 voter education activities implemented under the Rukun Negara@Belia (RNB) programme this year.

In a statement, i-lead said that up to Sept 23, a total of 780 programmes were implemented with the participation of 100,635 people either face-to-face or online.

“The Youth and Sports Ministry through i-lead is also implementing the Kafe Undi18 Tour Programme to provide exposure regarding Undi18 following the amendments to the Federal Constitution, Article 47 and Article 119 that were approved in 2019," it said.

The programme targets young people, especially those who are first-time voters, with the aim of providing awareness, understanding and confidence in their involvement in the country’s electoral system.

It is also to foster the spirit of patriotism guided by the Federal Constitution and the principles of Rukun Negara, it added.

The concept of the programme’s implementation is centralised and targeted involving young people in training and education institutions across the country, the institute said.

“This series of tours will be carried out by zone covering the Central Zone, Northern Zone, Eastern Zone, Southern Zone, Sabah Zone and Sarawak Zone.

“The first edition of this programme kicked off in the Central Zone on June 4 with the participation of students from the Youth and Sports Skills Training Institution in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan,” the statement read.
