PKR's Hulu Selangor candidate: I have nothing to do with Azmin

Pakatan Harapan candidate for Hulu Selangor Dr Sathia Prakash Nadarajan has denied allegations that he enjoyed close ties with Bersatu supreme council member Azmin Ali.

"I have never even met Azmin. Although I have been a PKR member since 2009, I've only been active after he left the party.

"That report was one-sided. They could have contacted me," Sathia (above) told Malaysiakini.

Hours before Sathia's candidacy was announced last night, a report appeared on a Chinese news website which alleged that he has close ties with Azmin.

Sathia was born and raised in Rawang, Selangor. He owns a chain of clinics under the SP Care Group in northern parts of the Klang Valley.

During the PKR internal leadership election, Sathia ousted June Leow as the Hulu Selangor division chief.

This was considered a major upset because Leow was also the incumbent Hulu Selangor MP.

Leow was one of eight incumbent PKR lawmakers to be dropped from the party’s candidate line-up.
