Klang Perikatan Nasional has unanimously nominated Dr Jaya Chandran Perumal as its candidate for the Klang parliamentary seat.

According to Berita Bersatu, Jaya Chandran's (above) candidacy was endorsed by the local chapters of PAS and Gerakan.

Klang PN deputy chief Khalid Nayan described Jaya Chandran as "the people's doctor". The latter used to serve at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) before going into private practice.

Jaya Chandran, 47, is currently the Klang Bersatu associate wing head. He told Berita Bersatu that if he was elected, he would provide free medical service to the poor.

"I will ensure that the people of Klang receive proper (medical) treatment and live a healthy life," he said.

Jaya Chandran said when the Klang seat was held by DAP for three terms, a lot of problems were left unresolved such as flooding, irrigation and welfare - adding he would end the suffering of Klang constituents if he was elected.

"I will bring every problem faced by the public to Parliament in order (for these problems) to receive the proper attention," he said.

Klang has received a lot of attention of late because DAP has dropped three-term incumbent Charles Santiago.

He will be replaced by V Ganabatirau, a two-term state assemblyperson for Kota Alam Shah and Kota Kemuning.

Another potential candidate for Klang is Dr Loo Cheng Wee of Warisan. PN is expected to only reveal their candidate list tomorrow night.
