Big names were revealed at Perikatan Nasional’s candidate announcement ahead of the 15th general election (GE15) tonight.
This includes incumbent Gombak MP Azmin Ali defending his seat and Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan contesting Tasek Gelugor.
Further, it was also revealed that outgoing home minister Hamzah Zainudin will defend Larut, outgoing deputy environment and water minister Mansor Othman will contest Nibong Tebal, while Ahmad Faizal Azumu will defend Tambun, Perak.
PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin said the coalition will contest 169 parliamentary seats as well as 116 state seats in Pahang, Perak, and Perlis.

At the federal level, he said Bersatu will contest 74 seats, followed by PAS (64), Gerakan (20), and other associated parties (11).
“The 169 includes Kelantan and Terengganu, but they will be announced tomorrow,” said Muhyiddin.
He also confirmed PN will use PAS’ logo in Kelantan and Terengganu.
“All our seat negotiations are complete. There was no fighting or squabbling,” he said.
Muhyiddin will be once again defending his Pagoh parliamentary seat. Similarly, former Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Rashid Hasnon will be vying for the Batu Pahat seat.
Bersatu’s Mas Ermieyati Samsudin was named as the coalition’s candidate for the Masjid Tanah seat and Saifuddin Abdullah is defending the Indera Mahkota seat.
Elsewhere, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad will be contesting the Bagan Serai parliamentary seat.

Muhyiddin also announced that incumbent Titiwangsa MP Rina Harun would instead be contesting in Sepang whereas Mohd Radzi Jidin would contest in Putrajaya.
The announcements were made at the Malaysia International Trade Exhibition Centre (Mitec) today.
This announcement comes after Pakatan Harapan and several other parties unveiled their GE15 candidates.
Gerakan president Dominic Lau was not named as a candidate while another notable omission was Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, who had been tipped to contest in Titiwangsa.
A party source told Malaysiakini that Wan Fayhsal could be named as a candidate in Kelantan tomorrow.
