Hadi's 'ugly behaviour' slammed, welcomed to debate DAP

DAP has slammed PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for his “ugly behaviour” by repeatedly claiming it has close links to communism and welcomes debates on the issue.

DAP Federal Territory secretary Lim Lip Eng said Hadi’s accusations were just empty talk, full of lies, and showed his ugly behaviour.

“Slander after slander, accusation after accusation. Is spreading hatred and lies about DAP part of PAS’ manifesto?

“Yesterday was the third time after the dissolution of Parliament that he has spread slander saying DAP is a party closely linked to the Communist party and rejects the institution of constitutional monarchy in Malaysia.

“Will he repeat this narrative 10 times until polling day without tiring of it?” asked Lim (above, right) in a statement today.

During an address in Perlis yesterday, Hadi (above, left) talked about corruption and said Malay-Muslim government officials were victimised as they were penalised for receiving bribes.

He claimed the tauke besar (big bosses) who offered the bribes were let go because they joined Pakatan Harapan.

He also zeroed in on DAP being hard on government officials and disputed the party’s denial of having links to communism.

Constructive criticism welcomed

Lim challenged Hadi by saying the party is ready to discuss or debate with any party who is interested to know more about DAP’s vision and mission.

He also said Hadi has been challenged to make a police report regarding his statements but said the PAS president has remained mum to this day.

“We welcome constructive criticism but if you look at Hadi’s statements issued by PAS, it is often the same narrative and rarely constructive.

“It would be better for Hadi to be more aware of problems plaguing the people such as inflation, the rising cost of living, and many other issues,” Lim said.

He questioned if this was the Islamist party’s long-term plan to win the hearts of the people.

Hadi’s ‘incompetence’

The incumbent Kepong MP also pointed out that Hadi has been incompetent in carrying out his duties as he often skipped parliamentary sessions.

“Instead he devotes his time and energy to issues related to race and religion,” he said.

He said it has been two years since PAS formed part of the federal government and the people should be able to see the development and progress made especially in states like Kelantan and Terengganu.

“It would be nice to see PAS spend its energy and efforts on rectifying its shortcomings instead of channelling its energy into hurling hateful comments,” Lim added.
