Zuraida to face off against eight others in Ampang

GE15 | Incumbent Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin is set to face off against eight candidates, including four other women, in her parliamentary seat.

She will be contesting under the Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) logo this time around.

Aside from Zuraida, the eight others who will be vying for the seat are Rodziah Ismail (Pakatan Harapan), Ivone Low Yi Wen (BN), Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif (Perikatan Nasional), Dr Nurul Ashikin Mabahwi (Pejuang), Lai Wai Chong (Warisan), and three independent candidates, namely M Raveendran, Muhammad Shafiq Izwan Mohd Yunos, and Tan Hua Meng.

Zuraida won the Ampang parliamentary seat with a majority vote of 41,956 in the 14th general election.

Yesterday, Zuraida said she felt confident about retaining her seat, despite PBM running solo in this election.

According to her, PBM will also support the government of the day, to ensure the rights of the people of Ampang are taken care of.

"The Ampang people have known me for 15 years. We are already like a family so they will not feel awkward to support me even under the new logo because they look at the personality and service of the individual (not the party)," Bernama quoted her saying after the launching ceremony of PBM’s election machinery on Thursday night.
