Pakatan Harapan and Umno leaders lodged a police report today against the Kedah menteri besar for labelling the federal government as one that goes “against the order of nature”.

Padang Serai Pakatan Harapan acting chairperson Abdul Razak Salleh and Padang Serai Umno committee member Samsuddin Ahmah lodged the report at the Kulim district police headquarters in Kedah at about 4.30pm.

They both urged the police to investigate Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor over his speech at an election rally in Padang Serai last Friday.

Sanusi dubbed Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s cabinet a government that is luar tabii - a Malay term commonly used to refer to homosexuality.

After lodging the report, Abdul Razak told the media that Sanusi’s speech was provocative, inciting, and would harm the country’s unity and harmony that has lasted for over 65 years.

Samsuddin said Sanusi, who holds a position that requires responsibility such as menteri besar, should not sow hatred among the people.

“The MB also insulted the royalty by claiming the government is unnatural as Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and the coalitions abided by the proposal of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to form a unity government following a hung Parliament after GE15.

“We want the police to act immediately and investigate the report (on Sanusi’s remarks) and to prevent other politicians from repeating the same things in future,” Samsuddin added.

The election for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat will be held on Wednesday (Dec 7). It was delayed following the death of candidate M Karuppaiya on Dec 16, days before the 15th general election.

It will see a three-cornered fight involving Perikatan Nasional (PN)’s Azman Nasrudin, Harapan’s Sofee Razak and Pejuang’s Hamzah Abd Rahman.
