Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Youth has issued Works Minister S Samy Vellu a warning to reveal all declassified toll concessions documents within a week or prepare for trouble.

For a start, it is demanding details of the RM650 million Stormwater Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) project and Damansara Puchong Highway (LDP)

"If he does not reveal the documents as promised, we will bring the matter up to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA)," said deputy Youth chief S Manikavasagam after submitting a memorandum to Samy Vellu's press secretary E Sivabalan this morning.

Manikavasagam said documents revealing poor governance in relation to the toll concession agreements would be handed over to the ACA.

Acting Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Md Akin said Samy Vellu should keep his word. In February, the minister had said the cabinet had approved the declassification of all toll agreements.

"(Samy) has challenged us to lodge reports. He is running away from the issues at hand," Shamsul said.

Also present were the wing's vice head Sharifah Shahidah Syed Kamaruzaman and vice information head Latheeffa Koya.

Evidence being gathered

The memorandum described the construction of five highways in the Klang Valley as "a nightmare to commuters", while the increase in toll charges from Jan 1 have "immensely benefitted two (or) three people".

PKR Youth also asked the ministry reveal the toll rate for use of the SMART project, which it had claimed would be set at RM2 based on documents in hand.

The stretch is now open for use, free of charge up to the end of this month. By then, the ministry will announce the toll rate, speculated to be between RM1.60 to RM2.

Another demand by PKR Youth is for the ministry to clarify whether or not toll agreements are classified documents.

On another matter, Manikavasagam said the wing is in the process of gathering evidence to back its corruption allegations against Samy Vellu.

"He has amassed enough property to create a city of his own in India," Manikavasagam told reporters.

On March 7, PKR Youth had lodged a report at the Brickfields police station, alleging that the minister has amassed substantial property beyond his means, particularly in India and Australia.

It urged the police to set up a task force headed by the attorney-general to investigate the basis on which Samy Vellu and his family or proxies have been able to accumulate assets locally and abroad.
