Azmi appointed as MCMC interim chairperson

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced the appointment of Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain as interim chairperson of MCMC effective Jan 5.

MCMC, in a statement today, said that Azmi (above) took over the leadership from Mohamad Salim Fateh Din who held the position since June 10, 2022, and had resigned on Dec 20.

Azmi is an administrative and diplomatic officer who has extensive experience in the public sector for 26 years in various ministries and government departments.

His last post was as director-general of the Department of the Director General of Federal Lands and Mines, Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Ministry.

"MCMC is confident that Azmi's extensive experience in public service will help MCMC's efforts to boost the development of the telecommunications and multimedia sector," according to the statement.

MCMC also expressed appreciation and thanks to Salim for his contributions and service throughout his tenure with the commission as well as for ensuring the industry remained relevant and competitive.
