Zuraida, Redzuan are Muafakat Nasional deputy presidents

Former ministers Zuraida Kamaruddin and Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof have been selected as deputy presidents of the Muafakat Nasional NGO.

Religious preacher Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and former deputy tourism minister Edmund Santhara Kumar have also been appointed as deputy presidents , according to the NGO’s president Annuar Musa.

According to Free Malaysia Today, the former Umno leader made the announcement after Muafakat Nasional’s first meeting today and said that six groups will be formed within the NGO to strengthen their focus.

The six groups are said to be concentrating on topics related to the economy, social welfare, education, politics, as well as youths, social media, and the arts.

Zuraida (above, left), who is former Ampang MP, was recently axed as Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM)’s president-designate in a leadership tussle with incumbent president Larry Sng. Zuraida joined the NGO last December.

Redzuan (above, right) is a member of Bersatu’s Supreme Council and has served as the Alor Gajah MP from 2018 to 2022.

The Muafakat Nasional NGO was formed the day after Annuar was sacked from Umno. He insisted that it was not a political party and had registered the body as an NGO under the Registrar of Societies.

The group aims to organise activities to promote the Rukun Negara and Federal Constitution, as well as safeguard the positions of the Malays and bumiputera.
