The first phase of the government’s cash aid programme for the B40 group, dubbed Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), will be credited in stages from tomorrow.

According to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the programme, worth RM1.67 billion, will be continuously improved.

“The government is concerned about the plight of the rakyat, especially the vulnerable.

“In line with this, the government has introduced the concept of ‘Payung Rahmah’ as the main initiative to help the less fortunate in handling the cost of living,” Anwar said in a statement.

He said the government has decided to move the first phase of the payment to be paid out to this month instead of March 2023 as initially planned.

“The payout of the first phase of STR for the B40 group worth RM1.67 billion will be credited to the accounts of registered recipients in stages starting tomorrow (Jan 17). This includes recipients from Sabah and Sarawak.

“STR recipients who do not have bank accounts can cash in at the nearest Bank Simpanan Nasional branch from tomorrow,” he said.

Recipients can check their payment status from tomorrow at https://bantuantunai.hasil.gov.my website.

The STR programme will benefit almost nine million recipients, including households and singles, who will be receiving RM300 and RM100 each, respectively.
