Raub MP urges Pahang MB to review durian farm land lease conditions
Raub MP Chow Yu Hui has urged Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail to review the land lease policy of the state's durian farm legalisation scheme proposal before asking over 200 Raub farmers to reconsider their judicial review.

Raub MP Chow Yu Hui has urged Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail to review the land lease policy of the state's durian farm legalisation scheme proposal before asking over 200 Raub farmers to reconsider their judicial review.
Chow, who is also Save Musang King Alliance (Samka) adviser, in a statement urged the new state government to consider objections raised by local durian farmers who had repeatedly indicated their readiness to discuss a compromise.
“The Musang King farmers of Raub are always open and ready to hold discussions with the state government for a win-win solution,” he said.
Chow had represented the farmers since 2020 after the Pahang government attempted to reclaim unlicensed durian farms on a large scale through a joint venture between state statutory body Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Negeri Pahang (PKPP) and royalty-linked private company Royal Pahang Durian Resources (RPDR).
The former Tras assemblyperson said this in response to Wan Rosdy’s latest advice for farmers to reconsider their judicial review application at the Kuantan High Court against an eviction notice issued three years ago.
Chow added that the farmers had never objected to paying new taxes to the state government or entering any form of cooperation.
“These farmers who started cultivating the unused land since the 1960s were willing to pay land tax which they had owed in order to increase the state’s income.
“Many of them started to apply for planting permits and the local government is aware of their presence but never took action,” he said.
However, Chow said their grounds of objections include supposedly unfair terms of the agreement, including determining durian prices and a requirement to sell most of their yield to a private corporation.
