Kedah MB: There was plot to remove me from National Finance Council

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has claimed that there were plans to remove him as the state representative in the National Finance Council.

He said the plot involved replacing him with Norizan Khazali, the secretary of the Kedah government. Sanusi could not offer proof.

"This happened and I cannot allow it. If people are asking for proof, then there is none because this plot has not become a reality.

"(The government) will say (I) have no proof. How can I prove it if it hasn't happened? I will ensure it does not happen," Sanusi (above) told reporters at a buka puasa event in Shah Alam, yesterday, according to Berita Harian.

Constant criticism

Under Article 108 of the Federal Constitution, the National Finance Council will decide on federal payments to states.

The council is chaired by the prime minister and members consist of "one representative" from each state, appointed by the ruler or the Yang di-Pertua Negeri.

Earlier in his address, Sanusi claimed that the plot to drop him from the National Finance Council was a result of his constant criticism of the federal government.

He said plotters were lobbying the Kedah sultan.

"Parties and leaders who discriminate or are unfair against the people will be rejected at the elections.

"If not through elections, they can be ousted legally through Parliament," he warned.
