PN MP denies links with man arrested for making racist comments

PN MP Saifuddin Abdullah has denied links with an individual nabbed for allegedly posting racist comments on social media.

Taking to Twitter today, the Pahang PN chairperson said a report has been lodged by his political secretary, Mohd Hafeez Mohd Yunus at a police station in Putrajaya this morning.

“The purpose of me lodging a report is to clear my name and ensure that the principles of justice are upheld.

“I leave it to the police to investigate this matter.

“At the same time, I have taken precautionary measures to preserve my legal rights against defamers, be it individually or on behalf of any organisation,” the Indera Mahkota MP tweeted.

He was responding to several social media posts that linked him with the nabbed suspect, identified as Roslizal Razali, and one “Datuk Arshad” who allegedly acted as a middle person between Saifuddin and the suspect.

Saifuddin refuted claims that he provided funding for the security guard through Arshad to make anti-government posts on social media.

The 46-year-old Roslizal was nabbed on Wednesday (Apr 12) for allegedly uploading tweets with “racist comments that could trigger public disorder”.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(c) of the Penal Code, police said.

In addition, Roslizal is also being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which is the improper use of network facilities or network services.
