The government has granted MyEG a three-year extension on its concession to provide services related to the Road Transport Department (RTD).
However, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the concession is no longer exclusive.
“We have made it very clear it is not exclusive, meaning they are just one of the providers.
“If there are other e-government providers who want to apply with the government, we can consider it,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
Loke said this when asked to comment on MyEG's concession, which was due to expire this month.
In February, MyEG’s shares took a hit after the government announced that private vehicles would no longer be required to display the physical road stickers on their vehicles.
It’s also suffered a setback after the Immigration Department announced that immigration services would be fully managed by the government authority by 2025.
Pressed on the matter, Loke stressed that MyEG would continue to offer its services.
“They are just one of the service providers to the government, where the public can renew their license, road tax, etc.
“That service has been extended for another three years,” he added.
