Horrific crash on Second Penang Bridge causes traffic crawl

A crash between a trailer and a car along the Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Bridge in Georgetown, Penang this afternoon, caused a traffic crawl.

Video footages of the horrific crash circulating on social media show the car was totalled, with its back portion almost completely crushed from the impact. Debris is also strewn along the span of the bridge.

According to reports, the accident occurred on the bridge, better known as the Second Penang Bridge, en route to Batu Maung from Batu Kawan.

The tractor unit (front) of the trailer reportedly went over and got stuck on the barricade separating the motorcycle and car lanes, while its load blocked a lane along the two-lane bridge.

At press time, it has yet to be ascertained if there were any casualties involved in the incident.
