PN Youth livid as photos of Anwar, Nik Aziz’s sons meeting go viral

Perikatan Nasional Youth information chief Nadzir Helmi expressed his displeasure after photographs of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s meeting with two sons of former PAS spiritual leader, the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, went viral.

In a statement today, he claimed the photographs are being misused to create a false impression among PAS and PN supporters.

“The photos of the meeting were ‘sold’ by many Pakatan Harapan media agents and supporters as a step to bring the PAS figure (Nik Abduh Nik Aziz) as a candidate for Kelantan menteri besar in the next state election.

“This is a strategy to counter PAS’ big wave, which saw the party winning all MP seats in Kelantan (14) in GE15,” said Nadzir.

Yesterday, several photos captured during a meeting between Anwar, Bandar Tun Razak MP Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and brothers turned political rivals - Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz and Nik Muhammad Abduh Nik Aziz went viral and set tongues wagging.

In recent years, Nik Omar and Nik Abduh had charted different political paths - with the former choosing to make his debut in the Chempaka state seat for Amanah during the 2018 general election.

Nik Abduh, meanwhile, remained in PAS and was a former two-term MP but was not fielded during GE15.

PKR-linked preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin shared the photos on Facebook, adding that “Nik Aziz’s legacy is always in the prime minister’s heart”.

The late Nik Aziz helmed the state from 1990 until 2013.

Upset with this, Nadzir said: “PN Youth sees this as a picture of how a party leader who has absolutely no specific plan, wants to govern a state that is firmly established after being run so long by the PAS administration.”

“This is how desperate Harapan is after the waves of people's rejection.

“They are increasingly worried due to weaknesses in the country’s administration - which is getting worse due to rising prices of goods, escalating cost of living and failure to fulfil promises.

“Their lies are so consistent that they had to take populist measures by riding on the name of the late Nik Aziz,” Nadzir added.

He also blasted Anwar’s statement that he would “seek funds” to resolve Kelantan’s water woes.

“Once again, this is a sign of how Harapan leaders look at Kelantan with contempt as opposed to how they treat Penang and Negeri Sembilan,” he claimed.

He then urged the people to continue to be vigilant against “scams and deception”.

The state of Kelantan, governed by PAS, had carried out the mandate to lead so brilliantly - even though various rights and provisions are denied every year, added Nadzir.
