S'gor govt scraps PJD Link plans

The Selangor government has decided to scrap the proposed Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) highway.

Caretaker menteri besar Amirudin Shari said this was because the administration was not satisfied with the submitted plan, particularly with the social impact assessment report.

“With regard to the impact assessment report that was presented, especially in terms of the social impact report, this administration is dissatisfied with the plan because it does not fulfil the conditions set by the state government.

“As such, the Selangor government does not intend to continue with the proposal and has decided to cancel the construction application for the PJD Link,” he said in a statement today.

The state government said that even though a concession agreement was signed between the federal government and the developer in April 2022, the developer was required to conduct an environmental impact assessment (EIA), social impact assessment (SIA) and traffic impact assessment (TIA) first.

“This administration’s principles are that development in Selangor can achieve a balance between sustainability, and economic advancement without bringing harm to the people of Selangor,” Amirudin added.

Previously, he said the state government would not approve the PJD Link if it is found to be similar to the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project, which was scrapped in 2015.

Several Petaling Jaya residents’ groups have raised concerns that the PJD Link would be a repackaging of the Kidex project.

The residents have since hauled authorities to court over an alleged refusal to hand over the EIA and other documents related to PJD Link.

The proposed 25.4km PJD Link was meant to connect the Sprint highway in Damansara to the Bukit Jalil highway in Bandar Kinrara.
