No contest for PAS Youth chief post, but Fadhli to hand over reins

There will be no contest for the PAS Youth chief post at the upcoming party polls later this week.

However, there will still be a leadership change as incumbent wing chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari will not be defending his post.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, the Pasir Mas MP said he was making way for new leadership.

“My topmost responsibility as a wing chief is to ensure that we do well in elections.

“The PAS Youth wing during my time has gone through a general election and the state elections, so now there is a need for new energy to move forward,” he said.

However, Fadhli did not reveal who his replacement would be.

He merely said there would be only one candidate for the youth chief post, meaning the post would be won uncontested.

He also said the deputy youth chief and vice youth chief posts will also not be contested.

An official announcement on the new PAS Youth leadership will be made on Thursday, he added.

The Islamist party will hold its annual general assembly - or muktamar as the party calls it - from this Friday to Sunday in Shah Alam, Selangor.

Despite being an election year for the party, top posts in the party are not being contested.

This is namely for the president, deputy president, and three vice-president posts.
