MP suggests govt publish book on Kit Siang, Nik Aziz

PARLIAMENT | RSN Rayer (Pakatan Harapan-Jelutong) urged the government to publish books about the country’s veteran political leaders to disprove baseless claims against them.

These include leaders like DAP’s Lim Kit Siang and the late Karpal Singh.

According to Rayer, the books would prove that DAP leaders are not communists, and also refute claims that Kit Siang has family ties with former Communist Party of Malaya (CPM) leader Ong Boon Hua (Chin Peng), as well as Singapore’s first prime minister Lee Kuan Yew.

“Lim Kit Siang is not a communist and has nothing to do with Lee Kuan Yew; no familial ties with communists.

“We also have to publish books about political figures like (former PAS spiritual leader) Nik Aziz (Nik Mat).

“Although he was a PAS leader, he was a great leader,” Rayer (above) said during the National Unity Ministry committee stage debates under Budget 2024 in the Dewan Rakyat today.

It is worth noting that DAP has published several books about Kit Siang, while books on Nik Aziz have also been published and sold.

However, no such book has been sanctioned by the government.

Rayer’s remark comes amid the controversy surrounding a statement by a PAS MP during a recent event in Terengganu.

The Kepala Batas lawmaker, Siti Mastura Muhammad, alleged there were family ties between Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng and Chin Peng, as well as Kuan Yew.

Earlier today, Guan Eng gave Siti Mastura 48 hours to prove he is related to Chin Peng and Kuan Yew, or face action.

Siti Mastura attempted to evade reporters waiting outside the MP’s lounge in Parliament who were seeking her response to Lim’s demand for evidence, merely saying, “Watch the video until the end.”

Elaborating, Rayer said he was disappointed and upset that such a claim could come from an elected representative.

“It’s a shame, (we) are not schoolchildren, but parliamentarians.

“I’m upset, ashamed, disappointed, sad, and angry as an MP can make such a statement,” he said.
