Loke won't sue Siti Mastura, says Lim relative claim untrue but not defamatory

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said he would not sue Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad over her allegations of a DAP family conspiracy.

This, he said, is because her allegations that he was related to Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng, while untrue, were not defamatory.

"I am Loke, he (Guan Eng) is Lim. But if all she said was that I was related to Guan Eng, that is not defamation and has no negative connotation.

"Because Guan Eng and Kit Siang are not communists. They are DAP leaders.

"Even if there was a family relation, that would not be a problem," Loke said at the Penang DAP congress today.

Siti Mastura had made allegations about familial links in DAP during a speech in Kemaman, Terengganu, on Nov 4.

While Loke (above) was unperturbed about the allegations against himself, he said the same could not be said about the PAS lawmaker's allegations against Guan Eng and Kit Siang.

"For Guan Eng, she linked him and Kit Siang to Chin Peng, she wanted to link them to communist.

"That has a basis (for a defamation suit," he said.

Chin Peng is the nom de guerre for former communist party leader, the late Ong Boon Hua.

Siti Mastura, in her speech, had claimed that Kit Siang and Ong - as well as former Singapore premier, the late Lee Kuan Yew - were cousins.

The Lims have moved to sue the Kepala Batas MP, as has Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

Siti Mastura had alleged that Kok was related to Guan Eng's wife Betty Chew.
