MCKK bullying case: Medical report obtained, multiple students inclined to be charged

Police have resubmitted the investigation paper into a bullying case at Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) in Perak after obtaining the victim's full medical report.

This is according to Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri, who told Malaysiakini that the paper was sent to the Attorney-General's Chambers last week.

“On the MCKK case, we have obtained the full medical report from Kuala Kangsar Hospital and the investigation paper was referred to the state prosecution office on Nov 24.

“The paper was later submitted to the AGC in Putrajaya on Nov 30,” Yusri (above) said in a text message.

Malaysiakini has reached out to the police chief to get the latest update on the case.

It was discovered that based on investigation findings, police are inclined towards having several students charged in court.

Previously, Malaysiakini reported that a Form 4 MCKK student was seriously injured when he was attacked by a group of school seniors in September.

His family had urged the school to expel those responsible.

Following this, Kuala Kangsar district police chief Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob issued a statement saying that police have recorded statements from the victim, his alleged attackers, and other witnesses to facilitate the probe.

On Nov 8, Yusri confirmed that the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and investigators have forwarded their findings to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.

Section 323 of the Penal Code stipulates offences related to voluntarily causing hurt. It carries a punishment of imprisonment up to one year, or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both.
