Police dogs Falco and Jimmy deployed in Zayn death probe

The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are using two of their tracker unit (K9) dogs, Falco and Jimmy, to detect any evidence that could lead to the person responsible for the death of Zayn Rayyan.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abd Hamid said the two dogs arrived at 1.50pm today and were put to work on the case concerning the six-year-old with autism.

He said the dogs began at the area where the boy’s body was found - near a stream by the Idaman Apartments in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

Selangor contingent headquarters Criminal Investigations Department chief Baharudin Mat Taib arrived 20 minutes earlier as part of the investigation, said Fakhrudin.

The police hope the dogs will be able to find new leads in the case. The K9 unit previously played a main role in search and rescue efforts in several incidents in the country requiring their unique expertise.

Fakhrudin added that no one had come forward to provide dashcam footage even though many vehicles were parked in the apartment’s parking area.

“I urge those who have dashcam footage in their vehicles to come forward and provide it to the police,” he said, advising the public not to spread any fake news as the case is still being investigated.

“If there are any comments made by the public that are false and threaten public order and sullies the dignity of this family, we will take stern action against those spreading them,” Fakhrudin said.
