Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin has urged members in the state to consolidate their internal strength before committing to any new cooperation for the next state election.
He announced that Sabah Umno will launch a state-wide tour starting next month.
“We will give priority to the party’s strength, and through this tour, we will observe and monitor preparations done aside from explaining current issues to party members,” Bung (above) was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.
The Kinabatangan MP also denied there was an internal turmoil which forced party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s visit and meeting with Sabah Umno on Monday.
“It’s routine for the president when in Sabah to take the opportunity to meet with Umno leaders, aside from discussing current issues, particularly on preparations for the state polls,” he explained.
According to Berita Harian, Zahid met with Bung, Sabah Umno treasurer Salleh Said Keruak, its secretary Jafry Ariffin and its information chief Suhaimi Nasir.

Yesterday, Papar MP Armizan Mohd Ali maintained that all is well in Sabah, amid talks of political tension in the state.
"Sabah is calm, no 'storms there'. Maybe there are 'storms' in certain parties, just maybe," he said.
Zahid initially said he would visit Sabah to resolve the political tension brewing there.
Following his visit, the deputy prime minister said BN will only decide on its allies for the 17th Sabah election after the dissolution of the state assembly.
Ready to work with Warisan
Sabah Umno previously indicated readiness to cooperate with Warisan under party president Shafie Apdal, and the Semporna MP also said cooperation between Warisan and Umno is possible in the interest of all Sabahans.
The proposed cooperation will see Sabah Umno and Warisan going up against Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) led by Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, as well as Pakatan Harapan components.
All of the parties are a part of the federal coalition government after the 15th general election.
