Sangetha's Port Klang Authority appointment confirmed

PKR Women vice-chief Sangetha Jayakumar has thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Transport Minister Anthony Loke for her appointment as a board member of the Port Klang Authority (PKA).

This comes after her appointment was criticised for being yet another political appointment, and Sangetha (above) responded to media enquiries by saying she had yet to receive a formal appointment letter.

“Being appointed to the PKA is a responsibility that I accept with a sense of duty, and I see it as an opportunity to continue uplifting, empowering, and reinforcing the agenda and commitments of the Madani government.

"I would also like to record special appreciation for (PKR Women's chief) Fadhlina Sidek who always encourages and strengthens women's empowerment.

"I see this appointment as a form of recognition for the efforts in question," she posted on Facebook.

The post was accompanied by PKA’s congratulatory message to Sangetha, Kapar Umno division chief Roslee Abd Hamid and Amanah's Ismail @ Saime Zakaria for their appointments to the board.

Sangetha's father is Dr Xavier Jayakumar, a former PKR minister who resigned from the party in March 2021 and switched his support to the Perikatan Nasional government of then-premier Muhyiddin Yassin.

Sangetha's post on X in October 2020 about Muhyiddin’s PN regime giving out GLC positions to bolster support was also revived in the wake of her appointment which received brickbats from Muda and Bersatu Legal and Constitution Bureau deputy chair Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif.
