Former chief secretary to the government Ismail Bakar has been appointed as the chairperson of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) for three years.

His tenure is from Feb 1 to Jan 31, 2027.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, in a statement today, said former Federal Court judge Prasad Sandosham Abraham was appointed as Ismail’s deputy.

Also appointed as members of EAIC were Yusof Ismail, Razali Ab Malik, Mohd Gazali Abas, Ong Lam Kiat and Siti Zainab Omar.

"The appointment has received the consent of the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah on Jan 24 in line with subsection 5(1) of the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission Act 2009 (Act 700).

"It is hoped the appointment will strengthen the implementation of EAIC's functions and effectiveness towards ensuring the quality of effective enforcement and integrity among enforcement agencies and its officers," he said.

In the same statement, Anwar expressed his appreciation to the previous EAIC commissioners - namely Sidek Hassan; Zainun Ali; Mahmood Adam; Aziah Ali; Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin; John Louis O'hara and Nik Ahmad Kamal Nik Mahmod who completed their service on June 30, 2023.
