Police probe arson threat against socks supplier

Police are investigating an arson threat made against KK Mart’s former supplier Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd over the issue of socks bearing the word Allah.

According to Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, investigators are still working to complete the probe.

“We have opened an investigation paper on this case, we open (investigation papers) on every aspect of this 3R issue especially involving this KK Mart case.

“But the investigation papers are not completed yet,” he told a press conference in Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur earlier today.

Last week, Xin Jian Chang claimed an arson threat was issued against the company in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The company also rued the sharing of personal data of its key officers on social media, following the socks controversy.

On the firebombing attempt at a KK Mart outlet in Bidor, Perak, yesterday, Shuhaily said security has been beefed up to preserve harmony.

“This does not only concern KK Mart, because not only the mart may be targeted. The inspector-general of police has issued orders to all state police chiefs (to tighten security).

“Special focus is on (such) premises, and racial issues for now,” he added.

Shuhaily also urged the public to not recirculate old videos with 3R (race, religion, royalty) elements amid the socks brouhaha.
