A bodyguard who was in a medically induced coma after sustaining serious injuries from a shooting incident at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) last Sunday, regained consciousness yesterday.

Muhammad Nur Hadith Zaini’s wife confirmed that his condition has improved at the Cyberjaya Hospital.

“He regained consciousness. His ventilator was removed and he can breathe on his own and speak a little,” Siti Noraida Hassan, 38, told Bernama yesterday.

During the 1.30am incident in KLIA on April 14, a suspect, believed to be the husband of the bodyguard’s boss, fired two shots, with one bullet hitting the bodyguard.

The suspect managed to escape from the scene but was detained by police in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, on April 15.

The Magistrate’s Court in Kota Bharu had issued a remand order to detain the suspect for seven days (April 16 to 22) to assist police investigations.
