Former MP calls for emergency Parliament sitting on Gaza war
Former Klang MP Charles Santiago has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to convene an emergency parliamentary session on the atrocities affecting Palestinians in Rafah.
In a statement, Charles said Anwar must demand that United Nations member states call for an immediate ceasefire, stop arms sales to Israel and enforce the International Court of Justice’s arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu through Interpol.

In a statement, Charles said Anwar must demand that United Nations member states call for an immediate ceasefire, stop arms sales to Israel and enforce the International Court of Justice’s arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu through Interpol.
“We, you, me and institutions need to put pressure on the United States and Israel to stop the massacre. Otherwise, we will have blood on our hands,” he said.
Charles’ statement came after alarming images of mutilated Palestinian babies surfaced on social media following Israel’s attack in Rafah.
According to a report by BBC, at least 45 people, including women and children, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a camp for displaced Palestinians in the southern Gaza city of Rafah yesterday.
On May 20, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) applied for arrest warrants against Netanyahu over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Israel-Gaza war.
Charles, also co-chair of the Asean Parliamentarians for Human Rights, highlighted that a strong message from the Malaysian Parliament could inspire other Asian countries to follow suit.
With everyone, including school students, the public, workers, global leaders and European Parliamentarians stepping up to talk about the matter, Charles reiterated that it is time for Asian MPs to take action, with Malaysia leading the process.
“The mutilated images of Palestinian babies in so-called safe spaces are a permanent scar on our humanity. It’s beyond horrific.
“The US-backed Israeli slaughter of Palestinians must stop,” he added.

Let us concentrate on our own atrocities before we worry about what is happening in the Middle East. There are people or nations that are more connected that can play a part in solving the crisis there rather than Anwar and the Cabinet. Recently there was a case of students that were made to stand in todays hot humid weather. Some were called in, while one student was made to stand for hours resulting in the child being physically and mentally retarded. What are we going to do of such atrocitious activity taking place in our own nation ? Charles. Not even a sound from you.
