'Maybe Umno doesn't like me anymore' - Tajuddin

“Perhaps Umno no longer likes me... that’s my fate,” said former Umno supreme council member Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who was suspended for six years.

Although four appeals have been submitted to the Umno leadership, there is still no answer regarding his fate with the party.

However, Tajuddin insisted that he would continue Umno’s struggle.

“I really hope my suspension is lifted so that I can become an active member again.

“I waited so long hoping the Umno leadership could review my suspension.

“I am loyal to the party, I love the party, and my whole family is with Umno. We want to be with Umno. But whether the leadership wants the same or not is up to them,” he told Malaysiakini.

Reassess decision

Tajuddin said this when asked about his position in Umno. He was previously suspended for six years.

On May 26, Umno supreme council member Jalaluddin Alias said the party was ready to accept former leaders and party members who had been removed before.

Jalaluddin, who is also Negeri Sembilan Umno chief, said this is because some of those who were removed after the party’s internal review had wanted to rejoin Umno after seeing the current state of the party.

“In Negeri Sembilan, the state and divisional Umno secretaries have been instructed to screen every application made to ensure that those who still have tendencies and loyalty to the party are reinstated as members.

“The process carried out by the party before is aimed at cleansing the party from those who are no longer interested in Umno and think that the party will become weak,” he said as reported by Berita Harian.

Tajuddin said he wanted to contribute to the party and hoped that the leadership could reassess the decision to suspend him.

Asked if he would campaign in the upcoming by-election to help the coalition government candidate, Tajuddin said it would be awkward for him to do so when his membership was suspended.

“I really like campaigning, the problem is that my membership is suspended and it is awkward to campaign.

“It’s embarrassing for Umno and I too. People will say that Umno has no one else to campaign,” he said.
