Lobbying has begun for seats in by-elections, even before Dewan Rakyat speaker Johari Abdul announced the vacancy for seats belonging to turncoat Bersatu lawmakers.

Today, Perak Amanah Youth chief Khairol Najib Hashim said the party is willing to shoulder the "heavy burden" of seizing the two parliamentary seats involved in the state, namely Kuala Kangsar and Bukit Gantang.

Apart from contributing a candidate, Amanah is also prepared to mobilise its machinery to ensure a victory for the government candidate, he said.

"Perak Amanah Youth is confident that the Pakatan Harapan leadership will consider fielding an Amanah candidate who can ensure a victory to the coalition's candidate, which would assure increased support in Parliament," Khairol (above) said in a statement.

Johari recently confirmed receiving seat vacancy notifications regarding six Bersatu MPs under Article 49A of the Federal Constitution from Bersatu chief whip Ronald Kiandee.

Previously, Umno Youth said it was prepared to "seize" the six parliamentary seats which face the same predicament, including Kuala Kangsar and Bukit Gantang.

Bersatu recently announced the automatic termination of six of its representatives after they failed to provide satisfactory answers to a notice to “affirm their loyalty" to the party. This after they pledged support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's administration.

The six are Zulkafperi Hanapi (Tanjong Karang), Zahari Kechik (Jeli), Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (Bukit Gantang), Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan) and Mohd Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang).

Another representative who faced a similar fate is Selat Klang assemblyperson Abdul Rashid Asari.
