Pasir Salak Wanita Umno wants Tajuddin's suspension lifted

Pasir Salak Wanita Umno today unanimously approved a motion urging the top leadership to withdraw former Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s suspension from the party.

Its leader, Rahayu Tajuddin, said a Pasir Salak Wanita Umno representative presented the motion during a meeting to show grassroots support for the former Umno division head.

Rahayu, who is also Tajuddin's (above) daughter, claimed that her father remains loyal to Umno despite the suspension.

"He was even (detained) under ISA (Internal Security Act 1960 during Ops Lalang) and now he is suspended (from the party), but he has never wavered.

"Loyalty cannot be bought and sold, and he has served the party tremendously.

"Therefore, the Pasir Salak women's division requests for Tajuddin’s suspension to be lifted," she said.

Rahayu was giving a speech at a Wanita Umno meeting which party supreme council member Md Alwi Che Ahmad officiated.

Also present were Tajuddin and his wife Rohkiah Abdul Samat.

Consider appeal

Several other Umno members also recently voiced support for Tajuddin’s suspension to be shortened, including the Umno Veterans’ Club and supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam.

He urged the party to consider appeals from “loyal leaders” like Tajuddin.

Tajuddin was suspended from Umno for six years from October 2022 - just months after he was booted out of the supreme council for criticising party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as a “liability” to the party.

He has appealed to rejoin Umno four times since then but to no avail.

The former Pasir Salak MP has even reportedly apologised to Zahid over the criticism.
