Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described a letter barring four individuals from campaigning in the Nenggiri by-election as fake.

“It’s a fake letter… meaning an anonymous letter. There is no truth in it.

“As of now, we welcome anyone who can help in ensuring BN candidate’s victory for Nenggiri,” Berita Harian reported him as saying.

Earlier today, Umno supreme council member Lokman Noor Adam hinted at possible legal action against individuals accused of slandering him on social media through the spread of the letter which included his name as among the four.

The other three are Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, influencer Wan Mahussin Wan Zain, and another influencer only known as Wan Hadi.

“I am looking for the names, IC numbers, full addresses, and phone numbers of the people sharing this slander so I can sue (them).

“Everyone involved in distributing this slanderous material, I will consider suing. I am checking their backgrounds one by one,” Lokman told Malaysiakini.

Rafizi’s aide, Farhan Iqbal also took a swipe at blogger Salim Iskandar for sharing the letter on social media.

“Simply sharing slander just for engagement and likes.

“My advice is to fact-check first,” he chided.
