'Dishonourable' to proceed with MAHB deal after Ismail's killing - PAS

It would be “despicable and dishonourable” for Malaysia to proceed with the selling of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) shares to a Blackrock-linked company after the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, PAS said.

The party’s secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Putrajaya should immediately cease any form of cooperation with entities connected to Blackrock, which he said was “clearly involved” in funding and arming the Zionist regime to commit genocide against the Palestinians.

“Ismail’s passing is a huge loss to all Muslims, but it will not break the resolve of all those who love al-Quds (Jerusalem).

“PAS urges the Malaysian government to take diplomatic steps towards a sovereign Palestine state, aside from applying international pressure to stop Israel from continuously committing cruelty and war crimes against the Palestinians,” Takiyuddin (above) said in a statement today.

The city of Jerusalem is holy to all three monotheistic religions, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque is also the third-holiest in Islam and has been subject to raids and access restrictions by Israeli forces over the years, including during the ongoing month of Ramadan.

Earlier today, Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Abdul Karim urged the government to cancel the sale of the majority of the shares of MAHB to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), which Blackrock controls.

The PKR lawmaker also said Malaysia must stop any form of direct or indirect cooperation with entities closely linked to the Zionist regime.

Takiyuddin said PAS will send three of its representatives to attend Ismail’s funeral in Doha, Qatar, on Friday.

The three are PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, the party’s International Affairs and External Relations Council chairperson Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi, and central PAS Parliamentary Council representative Tarmizi Sulaiman.

Yesterday, Ismail was killed in his residence in Tehran, Iran.

Al Jazeera reported Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as saying that Ismail was assassinated alongside one of his bodyguards and has launched an investigation into the matter.
