Nenggiri to get ATM services soon - Finance Ministry

Nenggiri is set to get ATM services soon, the Finance Ministry announced.

According to the ministry, it has conducted talks with several local banks on setting up ATMs in the state constituency in Kelantan, and the discussions have been "positive".

"The activation of the ATM service will be expedited to meet the needs of the locals, and the effort will be expanded to ensure all rakyat can receive this basic facility.

"The Finance Ministry will also conduct continuous engagement sessions with local banks to ensure identify improvements that can be implemented, especially in ensuring that access to this service can be expanded," said the ministry in a statement.

The ministry urged those who faced issues in their area to contact it via ukk@treasury.gov.my or at hotline no 03-8000 8000.

More than 30,000 people in Nenggiri have to travel at least 50km to reach the nearest ATM in Gua Musang town.

The journey takes about 45 minutes by car while some ride on boats for 30 minutes or spend an hour on a train. The nearest petrol station is located some 30km away.

Earlier today, BN candidate for the Nenggiri by-election Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani promised to work toward getting an ATM in the constituency, which has become a pressing need for the locals.

Azmawi will face Perikatan Nasional’s Mohd Rizwadi Ismail in the battle for the state seat on Aug 17.
