Muda to release audit report for 2021 flood fundraising to donors

Muda will release the audit report on its fundraising efforts for the December 2021 floods to donors.

According to a post on the youth-led party’s Instagram, the Agreed Upon Procedures (AUP) report was conducted by a third-party audit firm in accordance with ethical requirements and approved standards.

“We will soon invite the donors to thank them and provide them with additional details if necessary.

“That invitation will be included in the email that will be sent to them,” party president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz told The Malaysian Insight.

In the Instagram post, Muda said that more than 40,000 donors and 10,000 volunteers contributed to its Misi Mari Bantu during the floods.

The funds went towards the provision of essential resources, emergency relief, and long-term support to needy families in eight states, it added.

TMI sighted a copy of the audit report, which the portal said was prepared by one of the biggest firms in Malaysia.

The audit firm’s identity has not been published due to a non-disclosure agreement.

The firm tested RM1,016,668, or 49 percent of the total RM2,070,767, using random sampling based on expenditures provided by the party’s central executive committee.

Amira told TMI that her party is the first in Malaysia to use a third-party audit firm for its humanitarian aid initiatives.

The Puteri Wangsa assemblyperson called on all other parties in Malaysia to do the same when it comes to auditing public funds.

“If Muda can do it, they should also follow this step to show commitment to the principles of transparency and accountability,” she said.
