Fact-check: Mkini didn't publish 'Nenggiri voters reject heaven' article

Malaysiakini did not publish a report with the headline “I am very disappointed and sad that Nenggiri voters reject heaven - Tuan Ibrahim” as circulated on social media.

Malaysiakini clarified that it is a fake news article made to resemble its portal.

Earlier, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man shared a screenshot of the “report” and denied making such a statement.

“Fake. Denial of the spread of the following news by an irresponsible account,” he said on Facebook.

The link between voting and heaven has been made by some PAS leaders before, and it has also been used as satire by their opponents.

Last Saturday, BN’s Mohd Azmawi Fikri Abdul Ghani won the Nenggiri by-election after defeating PN candidate Mohd Rizwadi Ismail by a margin of 3,352 votes.
