Cops to resubmit papers on royalty assault case in a few days

The police are reworking the investigation paper on an assault case allegedly involving a member of the Pahang royalty and will submit it again soon.

Bernama quoted Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain saying that police had already submitted the paper to the Attorney-General’s Chambers but it was returned to the police for further investigation.

“We have taken action, and perhaps within three to four days, the investigation will be completed, and we will resubmit it for further action,” he was quoted as saying during a press conference at the Pahang police contingent headquarters in Kuantan.

Last week, Malaysiakini reported that road construction worker Alias Awang, 44, claimed to have been stabbed and shot at by a group of 20 people, including a member of the Pahang royal family.

The incident allegedly occurred at a stable in Kuantan on June 6.

Following Malaysiakini’s report, Pahang Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah urged the police to conduct a fair and proper investigation and emphasised that even members of royalty are not above the law.

Malaysiakini has not received a response from the royal implicated in the case despite efforts to contact him.

Investigation of Teresa Kok

On another matter, Razarudin said the police expect to submit its investigation paper on Seputeh MP Teresa Kok tomorrow.

“In the next two days, perhaps tomorrow, we will send it to the AGC,” he said.

Kok was questioned at the federal police headquarters in Bukit Aman yesterday over her statement that making halal certification mandatory could become a burden to businesses.

She is being investigated by the police under sections 298 and 505(b) of the Penal Code which cover causing religious offence and statements conducive to public mischief.

She was also questioned today by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for an alleged offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 related to the misuse of network facilities.

According to Razarudin yesterday, 50 police reports had been lodged against Kok as of noon that day.
