Cops probing clip of alleged kidnap attempt in Selangor mosque

The police are investigating a CCTV clip of a man allegedly attempting to kidnap a child at a religious school in Darul Ehsan Mosque, Subang, Selangor.

“Still under investigation,” said Subang Jaya district police chief Wan Azlan Wan Mamat to Malaysiakini.

When contacted, the Darul Ehsan Mosque spokesperson, who wanted to be known as Ali, confirmed there was an incident in the mosque’s vicinity but declined to clarify details of what happened.

In the clip that was posted on various social media platforms, a man, wearing red, approached two children near a vending machine and placed his arm on a boy’s shoulders.

Appearing distressed, the boy seemed to put a cup he was holding onto the ground and then managed to escape despite the man trying to stop him.

When asked whether any witnesses have come forward to help with the investigation, Wan Azlan said he will issue a statement later with better details.
