Perak PAS: Saifuddin acting more like cybertrooper instead of home minister

Perak PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria has slammed Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail over his statement on PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech at the recent 70th PAS muktamar.

He questioned if Saifuddin was using his minister’s position to act like a cybertrooper after the home minister issued an “inappropriate” media statement bearing the national coat of arms to comment on the PAS assembly and its president's speech.

“Is he mistakenly differentiating between the duties of a minister and the secretary of a political party?

“Or has it become a habit for him to use his position as a minister to attack an opposition party?

”Could it be that using his position as home minister allows him to be protected by the law?” Razman (right) asked in a statement.

He said that the PAS annual assembly was a forum for the party to discuss politics and preaching, and compared it favourably to assemblies held by Saifuddin’s own party PKR.

“If Saifuddin evaluates with sincerity and common sense, he will find that the PAS president’s speech and even the PAS representatives’ debates are more reflective and suggest the direction of the party’s struggle than PKR president Anwar Ibrahim’s speech and their debate.

“PKR gatherings are more about rhetoric and debates, in addition to attacking political enemies in a frivolous manner.

“It appears that he is trying to distract the people before the people judge maturely,” Razman added.

Razman said the media statement appeared more concerned with the people’s assessment and comparison between the ruling PKR assembly and PAS assembly as the opposition.

Saifuddin ‘embarrassing’

Razman was reacting to Saifuddin’s lengthy statement that PAS, under Hadi’s leadership, had strayed far from its original cause.

The former PKR secretary-general described the Islamist party’s rhetoric during its recently concluded muktamar as “the pinnacle of politics of hate” where slander and insults were used against political opponents.

Saifuddin cast PAS under Hadi as hypocrites who fantasise about seizing power but are devoid of ideas on tackling society’s problems and instead sow hatred among the people.

He went on to say that PAS’ former leaders Zulkifli Muhammad, Burhanuddin Al Hilmi, Fadzil Mohd Noor, Yusuf Rawa, and Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat would shed tears witnessing the party’s decline.

“It is most embarrassing when he drags past PAS leaders to make comparisons about PAS.

“Does he not know that what the president has brought forth, especially in this muktamar, is the realisation of what the past PAS leadership had instigated?

“For example, empowering the role and membership of non-Muslims which was the brainchild of the late Zulkifli Muhammad.

“It turns out that Saifuddin is too ignorant about PAS, the PAS leadership, and the direction of the PAS struggle,” Razman said.

The PAS leader found it odd that a minister’s statement would comment on jokes and elements of sarcasm in the representatives’ debate.

“It is shameful for a minister to label the PAS struggle as Khawarij (renegades) as the work done by a mercenary cybertrooper.

“Is this the standard of a secretary-general of a ruling political party? Perhaps this is the real reason why the PKR president replaced him in the role?

“Perak PAS sees Saifuddin as desperate to position himself after his secretary-general post was revoked.

“Is his minister’s position also under threat, causing him to issue the lengthy cybertrooper-level media statement, using the minister's position for personal politics?” he added.

On Sept 15, PKR announced that Saifuddin had let go of his PKR secretary-general position and will focus his efforts as Pakatan Harapan secretary-general instead.

The party appointed Fuziah Salleh as his replacement.
