Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has offered to help Teresa Kok with donations after she blamed ChatGPT and media sensationalism for the controversy surrounding her remark on the halal certification issue. 

In a sarcastic post on Facebook, Fadhli said he sympathised with the Seputeh MP.

“This is because her statement has been mistranslated by ChatGPT, where the word ‘to embarrass’ has been translated to ‘embarrassing’. 

“That’s what she said caused many parties to be angry at her. It is caused by her assistant who is not skilled in translating to Malay due to time constraints,” he said.

Fadhli added that if the government were to provide Perikatan Nasional lawmakers with constituency allocations, he would like to donate a portion of it to Kok.

“I wish to donate some of the allotment that I should have received from the Madani government to hire an assistant for Kok.

“That is if the Madani government gives me the allotment. 

“RM300 a month for a ‘part-time’ SPM graduate assistant specialised in doing translation work into Malay.

“Surely, Pakatan Harapan and BN supporters will be happy with my spirit today,” he added.

Yesterday, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh, to whom Kok issued a letter of demand, urged the Seputeh MP to sue ChatGPT.

Police were investigating the DAP vice-chairperson over her remarks on the government’s proposal to mandate halal certification in restaurants and food businesses not serving pork and alcohol.

She had also filed legal action against Akmal on Sept 11 for calling her an “old Nyonya” who should not have interfered in Islamic affairs, adding he would ask the government to prepare a non-halal logo to stick to her forehead.
