Community Communication Department (J-Kom) director-general Mohd Khairuddin Othman's services have been terminated six months after his appointment.
The former two-term Paya Jaras assemblyperson and Selangor PKR secretary confirmed the matter to Utusan Malaysia today.
However, Khairuddin (above) did not specify the reason or date of his termination and instead told reporters to direct questions toward the Communications Ministry.
"Yes, it (service) has been terminated. I'm no longer the DG.
"It is best you ask the minister (Fahmi Fadzil)," Khairuddin replied when asked by a reporter of the Malay daily.
Khairuddin was appointed as J-Kom DG on March 1 to replace Mohammad Agus Yusoff, who resigned in November last year following the circulation of a video allegedly depicting him engaging in an inappropriate conversation with another individual.
This was despite Agus insisting that the video was doctored to tarnish his name and that he was framed.
J-Kom was rebranded from the BN-era Special Affairs Department (Jasa), which was often associated with government propaganda.
The department has been accused of failing to handle attacks from opposition-aligned internet users on matters pertaining to race, religion, and royalty (3R) issues.
