PN lodges report against Puad for 'spreading communism'

Perikatan Nasional lodged a police report against Umno supreme council member Mohd Puad Zarkashi today over a study trip in which the latter took party leaders to China.

Johor Bersatu chairperson Dr Sahruddin Jamal told reporters at a press conference in Kluang, Johor, that his coalition is worried that this could spread communism among Umno members and the Johor state assembly, where Puad is the speaker.

“We saw that he (Puad) had brought several Umno leaders to see the political scene in China.

“We already know that China follows the communist ideology,” said the former Johor menteri besar.

When contacted, Puad said he will issue a response on Facebook later.

The police report was based on Puad’s recent Facebook posts, including one in which the latter visited the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Beijing Municipal Party Committee School, where CCP cadres are trained.

He also posted about attending lectures at the school on several matters, including the importance of media literacy, China’s economic reform mission, and theories and experiences of the CCP cadre workforce development.

“Their political school is great. Their indoctrination to the current layers and leaders is neat and organised.

“Many (methods) can be replicated with modifications,” Puad posted.

Yesterday, he posted that the group of Umno members had arrived in Kunming.

Puad also said that the others in the group will be attending another series of lectures while he will be returning to Mahkota, Johor to take part in the BN by-election campaign.
