Take action against 'parasite' Nur Jazlan, PKR activist urges Umno

Umno has been urged to take action against its supreme council member Nur Jazlan Mohamed for allegedly trying to sow disharmony within the coalition government.

This came in response to the Dewan Negara deputy president's statement yesterday, where he regarded PKR and Amanah as “mere passengers” of the administration.

In a statement today, PKR activist Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman said Nur Jazlan (above, right) was behaving like a "parasite" that is out to destroy the cooperation among ruling parties.

"It is unbecoming for a senior leader of a government component party to make such a disuniting statement.

"What he did was akin to being a ‘parasite’ that tries to destroy the synergy within the coalition government (parties)," he said.

According to Badli, who is a former PKR Youth vice-chief, Nur Jazlan should be issuing more positive statements that contribute towards strengthening the government as the cooperation between Pakatan Harapan and Umno is now at its best.

"Thus, I would like to call upon Umno leadership to take stern action against Nur Jazlan. Such a parasitic leader should not be allowed to continue sowing discord and disrupt the coalition government's agenda," he added.

Why the poker reference?

Badli also took offence at the Umno leader's poker reference.

According to the PKR member, the analogy used by Nur Jazlan was possibly an indication of the former Pulai MP's true colour.

"I am also quite surprised to see how a leader, who holds the position of Dewan Negara deputy president, could make such a statement that hints he is an avid gambler.

"Does this mean that today we have a Dewan Negara deputy president who is a gambling addict? Is this the level of professionalism that Nur Jazlan wants to show?" he asked.

Yesterday, Nur Jazlan took to Facebook to chide PKR and Amanah for allegedly demanding to be given many government positions despite the parties having fewer seats.

In mocking PKR and Amanah, Nur Jazlan used the game of poker as an analogy - saying that only Umno, DAP and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) are considered skilled and experienced enough to sit at the main table.

The Johor BN deputy chief's statement has since attracted salvos from several Harapan leaders, including DAP central executive committee member Lee Chin Chen, Johor PKR strategic director Arthur Chiong Sen Sern and Shah Alam PKR division deputy chief Najwan Halimi.

It should be noted that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is also PKR president.
