Urimai leader claims labelled as non-citizen in MyJPJ app

A United for the Rights of Malaysians Party (Urimai) leader has allegedly been labelled a non-citizen in the Road Transport Department (RTD) smartphone application MyJPJ.

Urimai interim deputy chairperson David Marshel said Transport Minister Anthony Loke should provide him with an explanation as it involved personal information.

“It is very irresponsible and disappointing that the MyJPJ application has insulted me by stating my citizenship status when I already have an identification card number and MyDigital ID,” he said in a Facebook statement.

On Wednesday, Bernama reported Loke as saying the Oct 10 deadline for the integration of MyJPJ with MyDigital ID has been scrapped.

The instructions to use MyDigital ID had been issued through a pop-up on the application, but was not an official announcement from the ministry or RTD, he clarified.

This followed numerous complaints online about the matter.

The government intended MyDigital ID to be used as a single verification system for Malaysians to access other applications or portals.

David blamed Loke for rushing out an “unprofessional” application.

The application database’s use by the RTD and the police could affect his personal safety if the information in it were inaccurate, he added.

Malaysiakini has reached out to the RTD for comment.

On Tuesday, the RTD announced an update for MyJPJ after seeing a high demand for online eligibility checks after the addition of the Special Malaysian Driving Licence Transition Programme from Class B2/B1 to Class B (high-powered motorcycles).
