A Palestinian woman who was among those involved in the disturbance at Wisma Transit in Kuala Lumpur has apologised and expressed regret for her actions.
Taking to TikTok, Aminah Muhammad Nafi’ Jamal Abd Rabah said Palestinians have been treated well in Malaysia.
However, she said she was grieving the deaths of three of her children and was distressed at not being able to contact her other children, who are still in Gaza.
“I apologise and deeply regret what I did. I swear to God, I didn’t do it intentionally. We are going through a very difficult situation that only Allah knows.
“I swear in the name of Allah, we are receiving the best care. What I say comes sincerely from my heart.
“You have treated us Palestinians with kindness, respect and appreciation. You have fulfilled your duties responsibly, but we were the ones who wronged you,” she said in a video recorded in Arabic with Malay subtitles.
Yesterday, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said that the recent clash between several Palestinians and security personnel at Wisma Transit cannot be used as an excuse to send all Palestinians back home.
It did not make sense for the government to do so as their country is embroiled in war, he explained, urging Malaysians not to come to conclusions based on the incident and blame all Palestinians.
“What’s important is that we seek solutions on how we can use existing laws with their presence here.
“The Home Ministry is ready to cooperate as the related acts (for them to be in the country) are under our jurisdiction. It depends on the type of suitable pass for them to be here,” he added.
Envoy apologises
Palestine’s Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali also condemned the incident involving two Palestinian women, saying it did not reflect the conduct of Palestinians in general.
Following the incident, staff from the embassy visited the centre and met with its security officials as well as the Palestinians involved to resolve the matter, he said, while apologising to all Malaysians.
