Student, 15, pleads not guilty in Muar court to raping teen

A 15-year-old pleaded not guilty at the Magistrate Court in Muar, Johor, today on three charges of sneaking into a house and raping a teenage girl.

The plea was heard before magistrate Suzana Mokhtar.

According to a New Straits Times report, the charges were for three rapes the accused allegedly committed in a house since May.

The victim’s father lodged a police report stating the incidents all occurred at the same location when the girl’s family was away because of work.

“The accused reportedly sneaked into the victim’s house before raping her. However, his actions came to light when he was confronted by the victim’s father.

“The victim’s father lodged a report at the Muar district police headquarters on Sept 25. The accused was arrested on the same day,” the report stated.

The accused, a Form 3 student, was charged under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which punishes rape with imprisonment for up to 20 years and caning for each charge.

The accused did not have legal representation while the prosecution was led by deputy public prosecutor Nur Aqilah Mohd Rofaie.

“The court also allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM5,000 for all three charges.

“However, his family failed to pay the bail and he was taken to the Muar Correctional Centre for temporary detention,” the report noted.

The court set Nov 19 for case mention, document submission, and appointment of legal representation for the accused.
