Pro-Palestine rally sees hundreds march to US embassy

Hundreds thronged outside the Lembaga Tabung Haji headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today in conjunction with the one-year anniversary of the ongoing Israel aggression on Gaza.

Attendees gathered outside the building after Friday prayers, before marching towards the US embassy peacefully.

Also present at the rally was Amanah president Mohamad Sabu, who delivered a speech.

In his speech, Mohamad urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to devise a new formula for world peace, as the Arab countries have allegedly failed to do it.

“The United Nations is no longer useful; it has become a place for debates and nothing else.

“Therefore, I urge the prime minister to devise a new formula for world peace and justice in the world,” he told the protestors.

Mohamad said it was “unfortunate” that Arab countries chose to purportedly ignore the plight of Palestinians who are facing genocide.

The protesters gathered in peace before trying to march towards the US embassy.

However, the authorities stopped them from proceeding with the march about 200m away from the embassy building, and they abided by the directive.

The protest dispersed at 3.15pm without incident.

Also present were PAS Youth information chief Khairul Nadzir Helmi, and former PKR vice-president Tian Chua, among others.
