Loke: No govt is perfect, even Singapore's MRT gets stuck in the air

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the Madani government is not perfect, but there is no such thing as a perfect government in the world.

He cited an example of how even Singapore, known for its efficiency, faces issues like MRT breakdowns.

"No government can fully meet everyone's demands and expectations. We face many challenges, but every government faces challenges.

"Even Singapore, as advanced as it is, faces challenges too.

"The Singapore MRT also breaks down. It’s not just the Kuala Lumpur MRT that gets stuck in the air, Singapore’s MRT does too," he said in a speech at the Federal Territories DAP convention today.

Since all governments worldwide face challenges, the Madani government must be brave in confronting these challenges, he added.

Although the political environment now is different from the past, the DAP secretary-general assured that his party has not forgotten its principles and goals, and will continue to strive for a better Malaysia.

Elevating Malaysia's int'l standing

Loke also mentioned that Malaysia has officially became the rotating Asean chair, which will put Kuala Lumpur in the international spotlight, with several international conferences to be held in the city.

"Kuala Lumpur will be a focal point next year, with many high-level meetings taking place here.

"There will be two Asean leaders summits, one in May and another in November... along with Asean+3 (China, South Korea, Japan), and leaders from Middle Eastern countries will also come to Kuala Lumpur.

"We don't just want to be the host country; we want to take advantage of this opportunity to elevate Malaysia's international standing and ensure Asean’s continued economic prosperity," he said.

Loke added that a broader agenda was needed to integrate Asean's economy so that the bloc could capitalise on the region's 600 million population to create an even larger market.
