PAS welcomes Umno president's brother as new member

A younger brother of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been accepted as a PAS member today, according to party officials.

In a video on Facebook, Parit Buntar MP Mohd Misbahul Munir Masduki announced that Zahid’s brother, Abdul Hakim Hamidi, officially joined the Perikatan Nasional component party.

“Today is a historic day. The brother of Umno president Zahid Hamidi has officially joined PAS. Congratulations,” Misbahul said.

He was also seen to be holding an official membership form and shaking Hakim’s hand at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

Also in the video were PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and Bachok MP Mohd Syahir Sulaiman.

According to the Facebook post, Hakim, a former Umno member, had applied to be a lifelong PAS member.

In 2016, Hakim made headlines when he announced that his company would no longer have any dealings with the government, during Zahid’s first stint as deputy prime minister and also home minister.
